I spent a solid month exploring the 3 countries of the South-Caucasus, it was a surprise how good Georgia was with it's outstanding food and wine.
These 3 nations have a complex history, under Soviet rule they co-existed relatively peacefully. But today Armenia and Azerbaijan regularly clash and Georgia is currently partially occupied by Russia.
Azerbaijan feels like any other gulf petro state and in many ways is proud to be a Turkish puppet. Armenia has a tragic history but some of the most hopeful people you'll ever meet.

Getting around Azerbaijan can be quite a challenge, similar to Turkey the taxi drivers are very likely to scam and misdirect you at every chance
If you're heading to Kazakhstan you can take a ferry from Baku to Aktau over the Caspian Sea
Make sure you visit as many of the abandoned palaces in Georgia's Tskaltubo before they're all blocked off, renovated or demolished. You can always find a way in if you search hard enough.
If visiting Georgia's Tskaltubo, do not force your way into any locked apartments as they are likely occupied.
